Bombardier Faces Potential Ban in US Amid Trump Trade Dispute

Republican Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas has made a direct appeal to President Donald Trump's administration over the threat to ban Canada’s Bombardier from selling aircraft in the United States unless they manufacture them on U.S. soil.

Moran, who represents Kansas, said he had reached out to the White House 'to make certain the President is aware of the significant contributions of Bombardier to Kansas and the importance of its presence in Wichita to many Kansas workers at Bombardier and in the Bombardier supply chain.'

The threat comes as part of a larger trade dispute between the U.S. and Canada, with Trump imposing import taxes of up to 50 percent on about $20 billion worth of Canadian products in retaliation for Canada's retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods.

Bombardier has highlighted its contributions to the US economy, stating it is a 'strong contributor' to the American aerospace industry and creates 'tens of thousands of jobs across the United States.'
