Bond Yields Spike as Markets Test Fed's Guidance
Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's approach to monetary policy has been put to the test as bond yields surge. Markets are now speaking loudly, and some are wondering if larger moves will become the new normal after the Fed pared back its guidance. Treasury selloffs have pushed longer-dated yields to their highest levels since the financial crisis.
The two-year yield has climbed to 4.37%, its highest since February 2025, while benchmark 10-year yields reached 4.71% on Thursday, the highest since January 2025. Thirty-year yields are nearing a threshold not seen in years at 5.19%.
The sharp increase in bond yields is raising questions about the effectiveness of the Fed's guidance and whether it will need to reassess its strategy.
