Bond Yields Steady as Fed Minutes and China's Robot Debut Take Center Stage
The long-term bond yields have steadied near multi-decade highs due to concerns over persistent inflation and elevated government debt demand. Unitree Robotics, a Chinese humanoid robotics giant, saw its stock debut on Wednesday with shares trading six times above their offer price, reflecting strong retail demand exceeding 5,500 times for the public portion.
The U.S. is set to add to its almost $40 trillion debt pile with a $16 billion 20-year note auction and the Federal Reserve will release its minutes from last month's meeting. This comes as investors question the Fed's ability to keep long-term inflation under control and demand higher compensation for lending to the U.S. government.
The contrast between China and the U.S. is stark, with investor demand for hyperscaler debt remaining strong in the former. Alphabet's bond sale was down under the latest deal to draw strong interest, while more than 300 companies are expected at the World Robot Conference in Beijing, vying to show that robots can deliver returns in the real world.
