Bowman Throws Hat into Ring as Ontario Liberal Leadership Candidate
Stephanie Bowman, the MPP for Don Valley West, has entered the Ontario Liberal leadership race. She initially endorsed Rob Cerjanec, but after he dropped out, she decided to run herself. Bowman believes that her background in banking and finance makes her a strong candidate, saying 'bankers make pretty good political leaders.'
In an interview with The Trillium, Bowman explained why she thinks she has what it takes to be the next Ontario Liberal leader. She cited her experience on the board of the Bank of Canada and as a senior vice president at Scotiabank as evidence that bankers can make good politicians. Bowman also criticized Premier Doug Ford for his handling of economic issues, saying he's more focused on 'showmanship' than leadership.
Bowman thinks Ontarians want a leader who is competent, serious, and responsible. She believes she can compete with Premier Ford's communication skills, which have helped him maintain high polling numbers in times of crisis. Bowman's campaign focuses on building a stronger economy for Ontario, tackling affordability challenges, and investing in infrastructure.
