Brampton Unveils 10-Point Tariff Plan to Bolster Local Economy
The City of Brampton has launched a 10-Point U.S. Tariff and Economic Resilience Plan to protect local jobs, businesses, and trade in the face of ongoing US tariffs.
The plan, announced by Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, focuses on protecting Canadian businesses, diversifying trade, and building long-term economic resilience.
Under the plan's 'Protect' section, Brampton will implement Canadian-first procurement policies, review existing contracts to identify exit clauses, and advocate for domestic manufacturing support.
The 'Compete' section aims to accelerate technology adoption, productivity, and diversification beyond the US market through initiatives such as the BNext AI Program and the GO GLOBAL Brampton export-diversification initiative.
