The BRICS Summit in New Delhi has taken on significant importance as it represents a growing challenge to the US-led economic order, according to foreign affairs expert Professor Manas Behera.

As a key player in the multipolar world, BRICS comprises 11 full members and 10 partner countries, accounting for around 40% of global GDP and 49% of the world's population.

The summit's theme of resilience, innovation, and sustainable economy reflects India's effort to convey that major global challenges can be addressed through peace, dialogue, and negotiations.

One of the biggest challenges before BRICS is creating a roadmap towards a multipolar world, where the existing US-led unipolar order is facing growing challenges. Behera noted that this process is 'a new beginning' but will require a long journey to reduce dependence on the US dollar in international trade.
