BRICS Push for Greater Trade Won't Ditch US Dollar
Chip Rogers, President and CEO of Rogers Capital Consultancy, believes that the US dollar will remain central to global trade. Speaking at the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi, India, he noted that around 99% of stablecoins are backed by US Treasuries or the US dollar.
Rogers stated that while there is a goal to reduce dependence on the US dollar, it's unlikely to happen overnight. He expects the trend to continue as the dollar remains the primary currency underpinning global trade.
The BRICS grouping has been pushing for greater trade among member countries, which Rogers sees as a positive development. He cited American economist Milton Friedman's saying that 'you typically don't go to war with those you trade with.'
