Brooks: Bessent and Warsh Focus on Taming U.S. Treasury Yields
Managing U.S. Treasury yields is a key objective for Scott Bessent and Kevin Warsh, according to economist Robin Brooks.
This involves keeping borrowing costs in check to prevent them from rising too high, particularly after the stronger-than-expected consumer price index data led to increased market expectations of a rate hike.
Brooks previously highlighted the volatility caused by a buyback announcement that resulted in a rally in gold and a decline in the U.S. dollar, as well as challenges for Warsh in anchoring long-term yields after a global bond market sell-off in late July.
