Bulgaria Drops Double Labeling on Prices as Euro Adoption Takes Hold
From tomorrow, August 9, Bulgarian businesses will no longer be required to display double labels on prices in both leva and euros. According to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the market is fully ready for this change after a legal grace period was introduced for consumers to adapt to the new currency.
The Ministry announced that businesses had enough time to reconfigure their fiscal systems and sales management software, while consumers are already making cashless payments en masse and handling euro banknotes and coins freely. The Consumer Protection Commission will start massive inspections across the country tomorrow morning, monitoring for incorrect rounding of prices and attempts to artificially increase the price of essential goods.
Citizens can report any violations they encounter to the regulator's hotline or through the official single portal for the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria, evroto.bg. This transition marks a significant step towards full adoption of the euro as the national currency in Bulgaria.
