Bulgaria Gets EU Nod to Join Eurozone in 2026
Bulgaria has officially received approval to join the eurozone from European Union finance ministers. The country will begin using the single European currency, the euro, on January 1, 2026, replacing its national currency, the lev.
The exchange rate between the Bulgarian lev and the euro is fixed at 1,955.83 levs per euro. Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone marks a significant step in the country's economic integration with Europe.
Bulgaria will become the 21st member state of the eurozone, joining the world's largest currency union.
