Bulgaria's inflation rate has accelerated to 5.1% in August, outpacing almost all of Europe, according to Eurostat's preliminary estimate. This is the third-highest inflation rate in the eurozone, behind only Lithuania and Cyprus.

The annual consumer price growth in Bulgaria was higher than the eurozone average, which rose from 2.9% in July to 3.3% in August. Energy prices were a significant contributor to this increase, rising by 14.3% year-over-year.

Bulgaria's inflation rate remains well above that of several major eurozone economies, including Germany, France, and Italy. The country's economy expanded by 2.7% in the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong household consumption and rising investment.
