UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced eight perks for state pensioners in August, totaling £2,847. This move comes as inflation is expected to rise to 3.2% by October and stay above 3% until the third quarter of 2027, according to the Bank of England's economic forecasts.

The benefits include a higher state pension, attendance allowance, pension credit, a national insurance cut, free TV license for over-75s in receipt of pension credit, NHS cost savings, discounted broadband plans, and a Royal Mail redirection discount. The state pension age is currently 66 but rising to 67 for both men and women.

Those eligible for the Guarantee element of Pension Credit can also receive free NHS dental treatment, covering everything from routine check-ups to dentures, which could be worth up to £1,000 a year. Additionally, over-60s are entitled to free prescriptions and an NHS eye test.
