Business Council Identifies Priorities for Strengthening Canada’s Economy
The Business Council of Canada (BCC) has concluded a series of national roundtables as part of its Strengthening Canada Project. The project aims to respond to a rapidly changing global environment, including growing geopolitical uncertainty and shifting trade relationships.
The BCC co-chairs include President and CEO Goldy Hyder, former RBC Chair Katie Taylor, and Scotiabank Chief Economist Jean-François Perrault. They launched the project this spring with national consultations involving surveys and interviews with business leaders and stakeholders across Canada.
Roundtables were held in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and St-John’s, where participants identified gaps and tensions and helped develop practical solutions for Canada. Economic sovereignty, competition, labour force resiliency, and government capacity emerged as common themes.
