Business Leaders Call for Swift Action from Ottawa on Economic Agenda
A recent survey by KPMG found that Canadian business leaders are eager for the federal government to deliver on its economic agenda quickly, particularly in terms of removing red tape and accelerating major project spending.
Half of the businesses surveyed want Ottawa to prioritize removing red tape and fast-track a new West Coast oil pipeline, while 47% say the government should accelerate major project spending.
Tax reforms were also seen as a potential solution by 43% of respondents, who believe it could help lift the economy.
The survey was conducted before the US threatened to impose 50% tariffs on Canadian goods, but business leaders are taking a measured approach and want to wait and see how this will shake out before reacting.
