Canada Aims for Strength Through Trade War
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada plans to come out of its trade war with the United States as a stronger and more resilient economy. Speaking at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, Carney stated that Ottawa is prepared to wait for the right conditions before rushing into a deal with Washington.
'We will always be neighbours,' Carney said. 'But we need to engage as true partners who respect each other's traditions and sovereignty.'
Carney emphasized that Canada's reputation as a reliable, predictable partner is valuable in today's world where transactions are replacing relationships and zero-sum approach is favored over win-win.
The Prime Minister also announced plans to seek private investment through long-term concessions to operate four major airports in Canada, which could raise tens of billions of dollars for infrastructure development.
