Canada Aims to Lure Global Investors with Nation-Building Agenda
Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, is hosting the inaugural Canada Investment Summit in Toronto next week. Global investing heavyweights will attend to discuss potential investments in Canada's economy.
The summit aims to attract major investments from institutions like IFM Investors Pty Ltd., which has expressed interest in investing $10 billion in Canada over the next decade. The fund has cited Prime Minister Carney's budget, which signaled the government's intention to sell Canada's major airports, as a positive development.
However, global investors are still cautious about investing in Canada due to its relatively small size and lack of large-scale investment opportunities. A recent report by the CPP Investments Insights Institute found that larger institutional investors prefer countries like Japan, which offers attractive valuations and diversification.
