Canada Appoints New Leaders to Drive $1 Trillion Investment Push
Canada's new government is focused on building a stronger, more resilient economy that is not reliant on any single trading partner. Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced the appointment of two key leaders to help achieve this goal: Dominic Barton as Chair of the Board of Directors and Gurinder Grewal as Chief Executive Officer of Invest in Canada.
Barton brings extensive experience in global business, investment, and public service. He previously chaired Canada's Advisory Council on Economic Growth and served as Canada's Ambassador to China from 2019 to 2021. Grewal has spent his career putting capital to work in various sectors, including energy, industrials, infrastructure, and technology.
The new leadership team will lead Invest in Canada to catalyze billions of dollars of new investment in Canadian energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure. This is part of the government's ambitious plan to attract $1 trillion in total investment in Canada over the next five years.
