Canada Caught Complicit in US Regime Change Operation Against Cuba
Canada's role in the US-led effort to strangle Cuba's economy has been revealed. The Canadian government, led by Mark Carney, is complicit in the Trump administration's regime change operation against Cuba.
The US has imposed an oil embargo on Cuba, a move that marks a massive escalation of Washington's decades-long economic war on the island-country and its people.
Preparations for a military assault are far advanced, with the Pentagon having positioned forces for an imminent strike. The Trump administration is working to fabricate a pretext for yet another illegal, unprovoked war of plunder.
Cuba's dependence on tourism has arisen out of the 'special period' of economic collapse in the wake of Cuba's loss of Soviet support after the Stalinist bureaucracy's dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Canadian tourists have been the largest single group of foreign visitors to Cuba since 1972.
However, with the intensified US campaign to strangle the island, impose regime change, and transform Cuba into a semi-colonial protectorate, this source of revenue has collapsed. Canadian companies face not only the threat of default by their Cuban state creditors but of outright seizure of their assets in favor of Trump and his cronies.
