Canada Depicts King Charles III on New $20 Banknote
Canada has unveiled its new $20 banknote featuring a portrait of King Charles III, marking the first time a new monarch has appeared on a Canadian banknote in over 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II's death in 2022.
The unveiling took place at a Bank of Canada event, which central bank governor Tiff Macklem described as 'a very special day.'
The unique feature of the banknote is its vertical orientation, and on the back, an image of the Vimy Ridge memorial in France commemorating Canada's role in World War I.
Canada is the first Commonwealth country to put King Charles III on its banknotes outside of Britain since his accession to the throne.
