Canada Economy Sees 3.3% Annualized Growth in Q2 2026
Canada's economy rebounded in Q2 2026 with an annualized growth rate of 3.3%, marking its fastest expansion since early 2023. This growth was fueled by increases in exports, household spending, and business investment.
According to Statistics Canada cited by Bloomberg, the economy expanded at a 0.3% annualized rate in Q1 2026, rather than contracting as initially estimated. This indicates that Canada did not enter a technical recession.
Exports surged 15.1% annualized in Q2 2026, the fastest pace in over three years, following a 1.3% rise in the previous quarter. However, this momentum faces new challenges as fresh trade tensions with the US have emerged. New 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods took effect on Saturday after trade talks broke down last week.
