Canada Economy Surges 3.3% Annualized in Q2 Amid Export and Investment Boom
Canada's economy has experienced its fastest growth in over three years, according to Statistics Canada. In the second quarter of this year, real gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 3.3% on an annualized basis.
This marks a significant improvement from the previous quarter, where GDP was up just 0.3% in June. Exports played a key role in driving this growth, with auto production rebounding after a six-month decline.
Business capital investment also saw a notable increase of 2.3%, breaking a five-quarter streak of declines.
Revisions to the first quarter's data have also been made, showing that growth was not as negative as initially thought. This has quashed talk of a prolonged recession in Canada.
