Canada Economy Surges, Trump Renames Lake Ontario Amid Controversy
Canada's economy is showing signs of strength after Statistics Canada reported that it grew at an annualized rate of 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026, the fastest quarterly pace of growth in three years.
This significant boost was attributed to increased exports, residential investment, and business capital investment, as well as greater spending in machinery and equipment.
However, on a separate note, United States President Donald Trump's executive order renaming Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' has sparked controversy on both sides of the border.
