Canada GDP Surges 3.3% in Q2 Amid Trade War
Canada's economy showed resilience in the second quarter, growing by 3.3% according to Statistics Canada. This is the fastest quarterly growth rate since 2023, driven mainly by a rebound in exports and stronger domestic investment.
The growth was surprising given the ongoing trade war with the U.S., which has imposed tariffs on Canadian goods. However, Statistics Canada noted that this did not seem to have had a significant impact on the country's economy.
Canada's GDP grew by 3.3% in the second quarter, surpassing expectations and marking a strong recovery from the first quarter. The growth was driven mainly by exports, which increased by 10.8% following a decline of 2.5% in the previous quarter.
