Generate Upcycle, a Canadian company, has received an investment of 18.8 million Canadian dollars from the Clean Fuels Fund to support its expansion project at the London Anaerobic Digester & Biogas Plant in Ontario.

The funding will enable the facility to triple its production of renewable natural gas (RNG) to 832,000 gigajoules annually once it reaches full capacity. The facility currently accepts a mix of post-consumer organic waste from municipal contracts and food waste from commercial and industrial partners, helping the region meet its diversion plans.

Bill Caesar, president of Generate Upcycle, attributes the growth of the facility to supportive policy at multiple levels of government. He expects that full capacity will be achieved in January 2025 with final fine-tuning complete by the first quarter of next year.
