Canada Jobs Report Surprises with Strong Hiring, Loonie Stabilizes

Canada's latest jobs report was stronger than expected, surprising analysts and causing the Canadian dollar to stabilize.

The report showed that Canada added around 75,000 new jobs in July, far exceeding the estimated 20,000. Unemployment also fell to 6.4%.

This boost in hiring is significant for the loonie as it indicates firmer consumer spending and reduces pressure on the Bank of Canada to lower interest rates quickly.

However, Commerzbank, a German bank, warned that external factors could still impact the Canadian dollar's performance. US President Donald Trump has threatened 50% tariffs on certain Canadian goods if no agreement is reached by August 19th, which could keep foreign-exchange markets cautious.
