Canada Seeks Global Energy Supremacy with Ambitious New Strategy
Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson, recently addressed an international audience at the Global Energy Show Canada in Calgary. He emphasized that the country has the resources, workforce, technology, and stability needed to become a leading supplier of both conventional and low-carbon energy.
Hodgson highlighted Canada's vast energy wealth, including its fourth-largest proven oil reserves, located mainly in Alberta's oil sands. The country is also the fifth-largest natural gas producer and has significant carbon capture and storage capabilities.
The minister stressed that growing global demand for secure and reliable energy creates an opportunity for Canada to strengthen both its economy and geopolitical influence. He noted that the International Energy Agency Executive Director, Fatih Birol, said, 'The energy-hungry world needs Canada more than ever.'
