Canada Strikes Back at US with Retaliatory Tariffs

Canada has retaliated against the United States by imposing tariffs on $20 billion worth of American goods, including steel, dairy products, and paper exports. This move is in response to the Trump administration's imposition of 50% tariffs on Canadian goods following the collapse of trade negotiations.

The new tariffs will take effect on September 8 and will affect a wide range of products, including some facing duties as high as 50%. Canada has also announced a support package for workers and businesses affected by the dispute worth $7.5 billion in Canadian dollars ($5.4 billion in US dollars).

Alabama may be particularly affected by the tariffs on paper exports, with the state selling $155 million worth of paper to Canada per year.
