Canada-UAE Trade Deal Seeks to Reduce US Economic Dependence
Canada and the UAE have signed a trade agreement aimed at lowering barriers to goods, services, and investment. The deal gives Canadian companies improved access to the largest market for Canadian exports in the Middle East.
The agreement was signed on November 20, 2025, by Prime Minister Mark Carney, who seeks new markets for an economy he says is overly reliant on the United States.
Canadian companies will now have better opportunities in sectors such as energy, mining, ports, and artificial intelligence. The deal may also attract capital from Dubai and Abu Dhabi into these sectors.
