Canada has announced a significant investment in its rail infrastructure, with Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiling a C$4.7 billion ($3.4 billion) manufacturing project in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The funding will support the construction of 313 railway cars as part of a broader modernization of the national rail system, with all production taking place within Canada using domestic steel and labor.

Carney emphasized that the initiative would bring back production previously conducted abroad, stating that 'rail cars that used to be built in the US will be built right here in Canada' at a critical moment for the economy.
