Canada-US Trade Deal Nears Completion Amid Ongoing Negotiations
A highly anticipated trade deal between Canada and the US is nearing completion, according to President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney. The agreement aims to address several trade irritants that have plagued relations between the two nations.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer confirmed that the Americans are 'very happy' with the latest discussions and will soon brief Congress on the deal's details. He stated, 'We feel confident that we've reached an agreement that will not only continue to protect American workers, American jobs, American supply chains, but really strengthen the North American economy.'
The proposed deal eliminates some of the irritants that the US has had with Canada, Greer added. Trump said Canada has agreed to eliminate tariffs on US farmers, though he did not specify which specific agricultural sectors would benefit.
