Canada's 10-Year Bond Yield Hits New High Amid Oil Price Surge
Canada's 10-year government bond yield rose on Tuesday, increasing to 3.806% as oil prices surged towards $100 a barrel. This price hike has raised concerns about inflation and put pressure on global bond markets.
The Canadian 10-year yield had closed at 3.77% on September 4, according to Bank of Canada data. On Tuesday, it climbed to its highest point in recent weeks, up 2.7 basis points or 0.71% from the previous day.
Natalia Lojevsky, Managing Director at CIFC Asset Management, warned that higher interest rates can eventually catch up with equities. She noted that the stock market has been resilient so far but may start to feel the effects of rising yields and inflation concerns.
