Canada's Clean Energy Push Sparks Mining Boom
The Canadian economy rebounded in Q2 GDP, but the Bank of Canada is likely to keep interest rates steady at 2.25%. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a historic $70 billion clean energy and transmission agreement with Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador, marking the largest clean power investment in North American history.
The critical minerals sector in Canada adds around $40 billion to the national GDP and supports over 109,000 jobs. As demand for these minerals skyrockets due to clean technologies, industries are investing heavily to accelerate projects and strengthen domestic supply chains.
David Willick, Vice President & Regional Leader, Mining, Metals & Minerals, North America at Schneider Electric Canada, says integrated engineering, automation, and digital infrastructure can reduce project risk by providing better visibility into how the operation will perform before the mine is fully up and running.
