Canada's Economy Experiences Strong Q2 Rebound
The Canadian economy is expected to experience a strong rebound in the second quarter, according to preliminary estimates. The growth rate is anticipated to be 3.4% at an annualized rate between April and June, exceeding the Bank of Canada's projection of 2.5%.
Oil and gas production led the growth, with a 1% expansion in May, marking the highest crude oil production volume for that month since 2016. This was driven by elevated global demand, particularly due to supply constraints in the Middle East.
The growth was broad-based across industries, with 13 out of 20 experiencing an increase in May. Goods-producing industries grew by 0.6%, while services-producing industries expanded by 0.2%.
