Canada's Economy Rebounds in Q2 with Strong Export Growth

Canada's economy rebounded in Q2 of 2026, with real GDP rising 0.8% as exports, household spending, and business investment all increased, according to Statistics Canada.

The growth was driven by a 3.6% increase in exports, with passenger cars and light trucks leading the way at 27.0%. Other sectors that saw significant gains include intermediate metal products, energy products, and industrial machinery and equipment.

Business investment also rose, with engineering structures increasing 2.3%, and spending on machinery and equipment reaching its highest level since Q2 of 2024.
