Canada's economy has just experienced its best quarter in over three years, with real gross domestic product (GDP) expanding at an annualized rate of 3.3 per cent in Q2 2026.

This is according to Statistics Canada, which reported that monthly GDP also rose 0.3 per cent in June.

The strong quarterly performance closes a chapter of economic uncertainty that had many organizations holding cautious workforce positions.

Two factors powered the rebound: exports surged last quarter, increasing by 3.6 per cent in Q2, with auto production re-accelerating after faltering over the previous six months.

Business capital investment was also up, snapping a streak of five consecutive quarters of decline at 2.3 per cent in the second quarter.
