Canada's Economy Sees Slight Growth in May, Paving Way for Second-Quarter Rebound
Canada's economy showed signs of recovery in May, growing by 0.3% for the second straight month.
This growth is attributed to various sectors, including construction, manufacturing, finance and insurance, and the public sector, which contributed to the gains.
The mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction sector saw a notable increase of 1% in May, following two months of declines. An early maintenance schedule allowed for more extraction during this period.
Transportation and warehousing also experienced growth due to an increase in natural gas exports and home-selling activity, which boosted the real estate and rental and leasing sector.
According to Statistics Canada's estimates, the economy is on track to expand by 0.2% in June, putting it on pace for a solid second-quarter rebound after stagnating in previous months.
