Canada's Economy Sees Strong Rebound in May
The Canadian economy showed signs of rebounding in May, growing by 0.3% amid growth in both goods and services sectors.
According to Statistics Canada's data, this marks a stronger-than-expected recovery from the mild contraction seen in the first quarter of the year.
Andrew Grantham, senior economist at CIBC, noted that the rebound is 'fairly broad-based' across various industries.
The housing market and oil and gas extraction sectors were among those driving growth in May, with offices of real estate agents and brokers seeing a 5.1% increase in activity.
TD Bank economist Marc Ercolao said that while the recent data doesn't show evidence of a meaningful downturn, it's still too early to rule out any potential economic challenges.
