Canada's Economy Sees Tentative Signs of Recovery in Q2
Statistics Canada is set to release its first look at the country's economic performance in the second quarter of this year. The agency will report real gross domestic product (GDP) results for May, as well as a flash estimate for June. According to preliminary data from last month, there was a 0.1 per cent rise in real GDP for May, which represents a slowdown compared to the solid 0.5 per cent advance in April.
The Bank of Canada and most economists were surprised by the mild contraction in the first three months of the year, but now expect real GDP to have rebounded with an annualized gain of 2.5 per cent in the second quarter. This development could indicate a strengthening economy, but it's essential to note that this is just a preliminary estimate.
The release of these numbers will provide valuable insights into Canada's economic performance during the second quarter and help inform future policy decisions by the Bank of Canada.
