Canada's Economy Surges Ahead with 3.3% Growth in Q2, Recession Fears Eased
According to fresh data from Statistics Canada released on Friday, the economy grew at an annualized rate of 3.3% in Q2, exceeding expectations and settling the debate about a potential recession earlier this year.
The real gross domestic product rose 3.3% in the second quarter, marking the fastest quarterly pace of growth since early 2023 and surpassing the Bank of Canada's forecast of 2.5% growth in the same period.
Exports led the way with a 3.6% increase in Q2, driven by a rebound in shipments of passenger vehicles and other goods.
