Canada's Economy to Strengthen Despite Short-Term Turbulence
CIBC Capital Markets managing director and deputy chief economist Benjamin Tal spoke at the Canadian Apartment Investment Conference in Toronto, painting a gloomy picture of the current economic situation.
Tal said that the US's 'tariff madness' is unsustainable and will hurt the economies of not just the US but also Canada and globally. He believes that a resolution must be found, although it may take longer than expected and won't be perfect.
The next six months, according to Tal, will be a transition period, but he expects Canada's economy to strengthen over the long-term, particularly by 2027 and 2028.
