Canada's Main Stock Index Rises Amid Easing Tensions

Canada's main stock index, the S&P/TSX composite, finished Monday in positive territory. It rose by 199.04 points to 35,568.14. This comes after the US and Iran paused attacks on each other.

The US stock markets were mixed on Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 262.83 points at 52,210.08. However, the Nasdaq composite fell by 43.74 points to 24,932.08.

The Canadian dollar traded for 70.85 cents US compared to 70.96 cents on Friday. Oil prices also dropped after the pause in attacks. The September crude oil contract was down $6.70 at $82.61 per barrel.
