Canada's Net-Zero Pillars Collapse Amid Climate Activist 'Grendel' Frenzy
A recent report by Friends of Science Society has shed light on the collapse of the main pillars of net-zero policies in Canada. The report, titled 'The Green Grendel,' was written by retired energy economist Robert Lyman and argues that the relentless pursuit of climate goals is unsustainable.
The report highlights the ballooning costs and subsidies of net-zero industrial carbon tax policies and the Pathways/Oil Sands Alliance Carbon Capture and Storage project. Lyman uses the analogy of Beowulf versus Grendel to describe the insatiable appetite of climate activists, who claim that Prime Minister Carney has abandoned his climate goals.
The report also cites a study by Kotz et al. (2024), which was formally retracted by NATURE in December 2024 due to its wildly exaggerated climate damage function. This study had been used as the basis for net-zero climate risk analyses by central bankers.
The collapse of the three pillars of net-zero policies, an impending climate emergency, trillions in costs, and solutions at hand, has significant implications for Canada's economy. Friends of Science Society is calling on the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) to issue a public statement on these material changes.
