Canadian Consumer Confidence Rises Amid Guarded Economic Outlook
Canadian consumer confidence has edged higher in recent weeks, according to the Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index (BNCCI), which rose to 52.81 as of July 31, 2026.
This increase was driven primarily by improving sentiment around personal finances and job security, with a notable rise in positive ratings for personal finances climbing to 14.22 from 11.28 four weeks ago.
However, despite the improvement in pocketbook sentiment, forward-looking views on the economy remain guarded, with only 20.24% of respondents expecting it to grow stronger over the next six months and 34.18% anticipating a weakening economy.
The current picture suggests that Canadians may be feeling incrementally better about their own situations while remaining cautious about the environment.
