Canadian Dividend Stocks for Lifelong Income
Amy Legate-Wolfe, a writer for The Motley Fool Canada, recommends investing $250,000 in Canadian dividend stocks to generate lifelong income.
The key is not just finding high-yielding investments but building 'cash-flow engines' that can sustain payouts over two decades of market fluctuations, including recessions and inflation.
To achieve this goal, Legate-Wolfe suggests spreading the investment across five industries: banking, pipelines, utilities, transportation, and necessity-based real estate. The portfolio will consist of $50,000 apiece in Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY), Enbridge (TSX:ENB), Fortis (TSX:FTS), Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR), and Choice Properties REIT (TSX:CHP.UN).
The selected companies offer attractive yields, ranging from 2.4% to 4.9%, with a strong track record of dividend growth and payment coverage.
