Canadian Dollar Hits Six-Week High Amid Tensions With Iran
The Canadian dollar has reached its highest level in six weeks against the US dollar. On Thursday, it settled at US$0.7136 or US$1=C$1.4014, up from Wednesday's close of US$0.7101 or US$1=C$1.4083.
The strong performance comes amidst ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, with no signs of progress towards ending the conflict.
Minutes from the Bank of Canada's July 15 meeting revealed a split of opinion on the sustainability of the country's economic recovery.
