Canadian Dollar Holds Steady Amid Trade Tensions
The Canadian dollar has been holding steady on Tuesday morning without any clear direction. As of 8:40 a.m. CDT, it was trading at US$0.7210 or US$1=C$1.3870, compared to Monday's close of US$0.7212 or US$1=C$1.3865.
A looming deadline for trade negotiations has kept the market cautious, with a possible 50% tariff on nearly C$20 billion worth of Canadian goods hanging over the talks.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices have risen by 0.6%, with West Texas Intermediate trading at US$84.21 per barrel in early activity.
