Canadian Dollar Steady as Crude Oil Prices Bounce Back
The Canadian dollar held steady on Thursday morning, showing little movement in its value compared to Wednesday's close.
The loonie was trading at US$0.7133 or US$1=C$1.4019 as of 8:35 a.m. CDT, with the United States Dollar Index up by 0.12 of a point at 99.79.
Crude oil prices made gains after days of declines, rising by US$1.55 per barrel to US$81.00 for Brent crude and by US$1.26 to US$76.08 for West Texas Intermediate.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index fell by 23.53 points to 36,122.89, while gold prices dipped $0.80 per ounce to US$4,304.30.
