Canadian Dollar Weakens Against USD Amid Rising Bond Yields
The Canadian dollar weakened against the US dollar on Monday as Canada's benchmark government bond yield rose. The CAD fell by 0.1% to C$1.3948 per USD, equivalent to 71.69 US cents.
Canada's 10-year government bond yield increased by 3.8 basis points to 3.681%, while the corresponding US Treasury yield climbed to 4.6719%. Meanwhile, US crude futures for September delivery rose $1.51 to $79.69 a barrel on Monday.
