Canadian Dollar Weakens Amid International Strength
The Canadian dollar weakened on Monday due to broad strength in the US dollar index internationally.
The CAD settled at US$0.7190 or US$1=C$1.3909, down from Friday's close of US$0.7212 or US$1=C$1.3866.
Canada's Consumer Price Index rose by 3.0 per cent in August on an annual basis, matching the previous month's reading.
The increase was driven by higher prices for travel tours and rent, which offset a slowdown in rising gasoline prices.
