Canadian GPU Prices Soar as Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Hits $1,410 CAD
Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has become one of the most expensive graphics cards in Canada, with prices reaching $1,410 CAD, a whopping 47% above its MSRP. This price surge is not isolated to the 5070 Ti, as other Nvidia GPUs like the RTX 5090 and 5080 are also selling for significantly more than their listed prices.
According to a recent report from Newegg, the median price of the RTX 5070 in June 2026 was $659.99 USD, which is 20.2% above its MSRP. The RTX 5090, on the other hand, was selling for a staggering $4,299.99, more than double its listed price.
Canadian prices are even higher, with Best Buy Canada's stock ranging from $1,199.99 CAD to $1,409.99 CAD for the same card. This is despite the fact that Nvidia's U.S. price is $749 USD, which would translate to a significantly lower price in Canadian dollars.
The reason for this price disparity lies in the complexities of cross-border hardware pricing. Canada typically receives a smaller slice of any constrained product's global allocation than the U.S. market, and importers add a layer of margin on top of the manufacturer's exchange-adjusted price. Freight and duty costs are also folded into shelf prices rather than itemized separately.
